newsponies:

Hello there. Corey here.

First off, I would like to apologize for the lack of updates for a while. I’m sure many of you have feared this project was going belly up as a result of this, but I can assure you this could not be further from the truth. In fact, we are all now more committed than ever before to see Newsponies released.

Having said that though, there is a very specific question that has to be addressed, and that is what the status of episode 1 is.

As I stated before, the audio is completely done, however we are still working on the art. Now, let me just go out of my way and say that the artist we have are doing fantastic work and I’m lucky to have them on the team. The reason the episode is taking so long, however, is really quite simple: Dinn and I DRASTICALLY underestimated how many artists we would need to complete this project. At the time we started, we had three artists. At the moment, we’re down to only two. Both are fantastic artists who have put in a lot of hard work, but considering the scope of the project, it is hard for just two people to do. Episode 1 we should be able to release very soon, but since each of the episodes seem to be getting longer and longer than the last, it’s obvious we will need some additional help.

So, because of this, Dinn and I are going to be reopening artist auditions! (As shown in the accompanying video).

We don’t have an exact number of artists that we’re looking for, but probably at least 3-5 members will be what we’re shooting for.

All you have to do to apply is simply send us some samples of your work (the more samples you send, the better, since it will give us a very good idea of what your style is. It is preferred that the samples you send us be pony related since … well, that’s mostly what you’d be working with), as well as give us an idea of how long it takes you to draw, color, and the like. Please take note that the reason we are looking for more artists is to try to get episodes out more quickly, so if you can make good art quickly, that will give you an edge.

We will be looking for members with general art skills (sketching, coloring, lineart, etc.), but we will also be looking for specific help with backgrounds also. So if you can only do backgrounds, still send us a sample of your work and you will still be considered. (Please don’t take this to mean that we will only consider hiring you on if you’re good at backgrounds, it just means we’re looking for at least one member who is really good at backgrounds as well).

One very important thing that I will ask of everyone applying is that you only apply if have enough time to work on this project. This is very important. Our team does not want to have further delays, so if you audition, we are taking that to mean that you have enough free time to commit to this project to really give it your all. We take this project seriously, so please, only apply if you’re willing to give up the amount of time necessary to do this series.

To give you an idea of the kind of series we’re trying to make, how we want the final project to look, the video gives you a rough idea.

YOU HAVE UNTIL JUNE 30TH TO APPLY.

Likely after we get applicants in, we will try to narrow it down from there, so we will likely do callbacks with further instructions.

So, just to summarize.

-Looking for artists with general art skills who can work quickly
-Also looking for at least one artist with skill at creating backgrounds
-Send us a sizable sample of your work (pony art is highly preferred to be included in the sample, background art if you’re interested in the background artist position)
-Let us know about how long it takes you to create your work so we have a good idea of how quickly you can work.
-Only apply if you have enough free time to work on this project.
-Applications due June 30th
-Callbacks to come afterwards

That’s about it. Sorry for the text wall. You can expect a lot more frequent posts from us coming up, so stick around! If you have any questions about the series, feel free to submit a question!

Thanks guys, have a nice day.

Hey, who wants to draw stuff and be cool with me? Cuz if you like drawing…then neat. Let me know. If you think you’re good. Or if you don’t but you are good but you have that artist thing where you have like zero self-esteem.

I’m not sure which I find more troubling about my deviantart followers: their questionable desires or their deplorable grammar.
Still, I think I may have finally found a niche audience to cater to. Now to set fire to both my moral codes and my MLA handbook and start making some grammatically tenuous pony smut!
